You're all prepped and ready for surgery! I'm the nurse anesthetist, and I'm going to administer the anesthesia. You're a little nervous so I reassure you before pulling on some surgical gloves. There! I'm all set. I ask you to think nice thoughts while I put you under. I turn on the gas, and explain that I'll be holding the mask against your face. As I count you down your eyelids become heavy.
