Benetta is crutching with her friend in the park and is so engrossed in conversation that she doesn't realize she is crunching on a path with a lot of small pebbles. One gets lodged in her cast and between her broken toe and the pebble stuck in the plaster irritating her sole she can't take another step her friend tries to extract the pebble while they are walking but can't manage. So they crutch over to a bench where Benetta can try to get at it. She still can't manage and her friend must dig into the bottom of the cast under her exposed toes to get at it.
