Charlotte and Rory are just being themselves: She's hovering over his face, he's desperately trying to get in a good sniff. Charlotte allows him to do so, but not without a little rejection in between. Some face slapping, some teasing, some denial. She jokes around asking him if he can smell 'last night' and other similar things. But over all, the idea is clear. They are just having a good time being themselves.
