I try on my very lovely life jacket. I pull strings, buckle myself, and situate the crotch strap as I tell you how nervous I am for an upcoming boating trip. I recall an incident a few years ago with some girl friends of mine. We were on a boat and it suddenly started to take on water. I get into my life jacket. Eventually, we get into the water. I talk about what it was like to be in the water with the life jacket being the only thing keeping me safe and afloat. It provides me so much comfort.
