Quickly, she shoved the safe door closed and swam up to the surface, gasping for air as she hoped she hadn't been caught in the act.
The man's face was unreadable as he stood above her, his arms crossed over his chest. He nodded towards the side of the pool where a small table held a SCUBA gear. Kilo knew what he wanted – to see what she was trying to steal. She put on the gear, trying to hide her nervousness as she sank back into the water.
She tried to appear nonchalant as she swam towards the safe again, but her hands shook as she attempted to pick the lock. Just as she was about to succeed, a hand grabbed her shoulder, yanking her backwards. Kilo's heart raced as she realized she had been caught once again.
The man held her regulator in one hand, a wicked smile on his face as he watched her struggle to breathe. He released her, only to grab her regulator again when she made a move to surface for air. Kilo knew she couldn't hold her breath forever, but she refused to give in to the man's cruel game.
