Ah Turkey. I have very fond memories of this trip. We started with its capital: the very old and beautiful city of Istanbul: Founded by the Greeks in the 6th century BC, it over 2677 years old!! Its first name was Byzantium, then Emperor Constantine seized it in 324 and renamed it Constantinople capital of the Eastern Roman Empire for almost a thousand years! Finally the Ottomans conquered it in 1453 and renamed it Istanbul. Very rich in history, rare are the cities which had 3 names. It is part of a three ancient capital with Rome and Athens.
