Poor Angel knew she was in for something terrible, something cruel.

But it wasn't a painful torment for her, no beating, no bending, no breaking. It was something far worse. It was just a random drip of water. Every few seconds, randomly, a drop of water came from the ceiling, hitting her in the face. One drop, two seconds, another drop, one second, two ...

Every few seconds, randomly, a drop of water came from the ceiling, hitting her in the face. One drop, two seconds, another drop, one second, two more drops, another four seconds, etc. There was no pattern, no predicting when the drops would come.

Being unable to move, and unable to cry out meant that Angel would have to endure this agony as long as her tormentors wanted. And they seem to be in no hurry.
