When we first see Angelique, she is tied atop a table, with her hands tied behind her and her knees bent upward. Her legs are wrapped so they are held tightly together, and her big toes are tied together as well.

To torment poor Angelique, the binding on her toes is also tied off to the rope around her ankles, her to keep her feet bent straight. While not painful, her discomfort is obvious.
