To accomplish their goal, of course, meant they had to do away with Paige and do it for a very select viewing audience. One of a few hundred clients who would pay thousands of dollars to watch a pretty lady face a very real peril and suffer an unfortunate outcome. They had done this with pretty ladies before, but never with a pregnant lady before. This was special. One that their clientele would truly enjoy for months to come.

For Paige meanwhile, there was no enjoyment. Her captors had set up some cameras, one in front of her, one behind her next to the bomb that would do her in. They set up the lights, activated all the cameras, and then abandoned her. In this city, explosions happened often enough that another one would get little notice. She pleaded into the cameras through the gag, but all that came out were unintelligible grunts and moans. She was making some progress with the ropes that tied her to the chair, but not enough to escape before the timer would run out...
