He’s overrun by this pair!
Having spied Hera dropping Eva off, he’s laid in wait until her car is out of sight. Now he sneaks down and takes out the little cutie while she is ensconced examining a curious makeshift door which leads directly to a ton of smuggled goods because yep, you guessed it, this place isn’t haunted at all, (well, it might be, but not in this one) and the fiend behind it all has been pushing, quite, the idea that there are spookies up here, keeping the townsfolk, and the old man, running scared!
He and his gang of smugglers have pulled it all off quite effectively, and they aren’t about to allow a couple of snooping girls to steer them off course and into jail cells! So he wastes no time in taking the redhead out and soon has her bound and gagged with a handkerchief pulled impossibly tightly over her pretty mouth. Now he lies in wait, for the other one... Most likely a trip to the Old Wharf, wouldn’t you think?
