Nicola Braithwaite was very upset when she was passed over as a prefect, which brought out the rebellious streak in her. A couple weeks into term, she and a group of friends were spotted going to see Last Tango in Paris. They were spotted and reported. She was called to her housemaster's study and given six of the best. A couple of weeks later, she was caught cheating in her mock 'A' levels, and was beaten again.
