It's time of war. The front is very close to Kuyugen's house but she doesn't care. The war was a source of business for her. Indeed, she got rich by speculating on supplies to the army. The problem is that there are more and more deserters and drifters around.

In the first scene we see Kuyugen talking to the Chief Overseer Raimondo.
