Her friend is in the hospital to take her home and the nurse helps her undress and then dress. First lesson -- she can only wear a slipover dress because of the spreader bar between her legs. Next lesson - she needs help with even little things like getting out of bed as her friend unceremoniously reaches for her spreader bar and pulls her to the side of the bed. She can only "walk" for short distances, and only on crutches and with two ill-fitting open cast shoes her long toes hang out the front of. Her friend and nurse help her crutch to the wheelchair and plop in it for her journey home. Back home she needs to learn how to navigate her home and her friend pulls her ill-fitting footwear out and 'shoes' Suzy so she can learn to crutch around her apartment a bit. She gets tired quickly and the cast shoes bother her exposed toes so when she gets to the couch her friend pulls them off and offers poor Suzy the only real relief she's had all day encased in her plaster prison - a thorough massage of her half exposed feet and toes.
