The brave and foolish slave thinks that it's a good idea to touch his mistress, while she is already punishing him for something. He even thinks that the mistress won't notice his action. He was wrong. He just angered the mistress even more and because of it he got further strokes with the cane. Maybe he learned where his place is, but maybe it takes some more punishment.
