Gage is an explorer for hire, looking for a rare plant. Sighting it, he heads across a mud plain and suddenly begins to sink. Not detered, he struggles to get free, using his hiking staff as leverage, sinking about hip deep before he pulls free of the thick mud. Moving forward, he tries to reach the plant, but ends up in a softer spot in the mud. Now he is really sinking and he left the staff behind.
