Warden Scarlet counts out all the strokes as she administers them, the strokes start slow but speed up as Lucy's bottom gets redder and striped. Lucy's bottom is inspected before Warden Scarlet announces that the last 15 strokes will be given without any break. Once the punishment has been delivered Lucy is given her basket of clothes and coldly instructed to get herself cleaned up.
