The second section of Nicholas's punishment begins with the young man,dressed in his pyjamas, lying face down on his bed waiting for Dr. Blake to come with the thick leather belt he unbuckled from his trousers when he ordered Nicholas up to bed and told him he was going to get 20 strokes.
