Ivy's fleshly Aunt (a very powerful witch) stayed over for a few days recently and decided that Ivy wasn't really using her powers effectively enough when it came to asserting her authority and dominance over her stepbrother. She therefore, cast a hex which she thought would make the relationship develop along better lines for Ivy, and which would let the stupid muggle stepbrother understand his place in the family. She communicates this by letter to Ivy, but mischievously leaves out the key details of her hex. Ivy will discover this in due course.
