"'Chloe?!' Rue cried, tears streaming down her pale cheeks.

The vines around Rue's legs tightened and started to shift, rolling over her skin and lifting her legs higher.

She whimpered and let her eyes wonder to the writing vines in the ground beneath her as she thrashed and struggled. Vines of varying thickness sprung up and whipped at the air as though they were flexing. They ranged from the thickness of her little finger to the thickness of her forearm. All were an almost purple blue with their own soft bioluminescent glow.
