I've been stretching my ear piercings for a few months now and I've finally managed to get my 5mm Adventure Time plug in a few days ago. Of course, when stretching the ears it's so important to keep them nice and clean to avoid infection and swelling. So I begin by using cotton buds to clean around the outside of my ear. All the curls and folds are wiped over, and I even clean out the inside of my ears showing you the waxy deposit that gets left behind on the buds.
