Now what we usually get is a series of close ups and exercises but not here, what we do get is a stunning shot that for the first time really reveals the endurance of a lift and carry in the summer heat. It is easy to forget when watching a clip the distance that is covered by the carrier but here there is a stunning shot that encompasses the whole event beautifully. The long road with the heat haze shimmering and the lad plodding along, with drops and remounts, is the most perfect shot I have ever seen that really brings home the challenge of a lift and carry. After this wonderful long shot the clip returns to close ups and following shots, but in your mind you can still see the huge wide shot and the impact of distance on the guys. If you are a carrier then you will have an intimidate affinity with this clip and if you are the carried then suddenly you will see the demands you make brought to the screen. Yes we see some lovely close ups of the exhausted Gizzy later on and the lad is seriously pushed to the limit, and he has a super compact body that responds well to carrying and a muscle tone that shows the physical effects, but in the clip overall you have a new perspective on lift and carry. Just so refreshing to see something new and something that for once addresses the complexity of carrying.
