Valerie has to borrow her stepfather's car because her regular car is in the shop (that part of the story is actually true). As she goes out for a drive, she discovers that the borrowed car has a lot of things wrong with it when the brakes go out. She is wearing a long blue summer dress with platform gladiator shoes which I brought for her as a birthday present.
