I’ll share three stories where my stomach was unexpectedly examined - none of the issues I’d gone to the doctor about were actually belly-related so I was taken by surprise each time and left feeling all kinds of weirded out, uncomfortable, humiliated and squirmy!

Story number 1 involves an experience I’ve thought about for many, many years.... Decades, honestly.... It’s the first time I remember a doctor using a stethoscope to listen to my belly rather than my heart or lungs. The comment she made about what she could hear has echoed through my head ever since! Stories number 2 and 3 both involve trips to specialists for unconnected conditions which led to my belly being examined - during one I had a full bladder and a bad case of the rumbles, while during the other I was embarrassed because it was the first time I’d ever had my tummy examined after starting to deliberately gain weight! I also listen to my belly a little to describe the noises I hear for you (plus I talk about stethoscopes a little bit) and I play with my soft fat tummy throughout.
