Bella knows that she is not supposed to sit or lay on any furniture.

Mistress Scarlet always has kept her girl naked and kneeling or laying on the floor.

The older woman tells Bella that she is going to do some work and when she returns will take the younger girl for her bath. She tells her to lay on the floor.

Once Mistress has left the room, Bella slinks up the couch and lays on it to take her nap.

Mistress comes back as she left something, and finds Bella lying on the couch. She asks the girl to retrieve her favourite paddle.
