Lady Karame had come to the conclusion that I was useless as a slave. Graciously, however, she decided that I could still be of use in her residence. She trained me therefore to a useful bench. As a living bench, she would use me without giving me orders, so I had to learn to behave like a piece of furniture and react quickly to every touch: she pushed me aside to sit down, to move to the side, she pulled me close, if she wished to sit on me, I had to move closer.
