PART 1 - It’s getting towards the end of rehearsal and the Misfit Layla Mikayla takes a moment to admire her own beauty. We find her naked and alone again standing strongly in front of a tall mirror on a dirty floor. This grungy dance studio was all she could afford to rent, for all her money has sadly gone towards being able to survive a life as a dancer in NYC. Confident in her physique her spirit grows as and she flexes, poses, and dances in front of the mirror in turn becoming more beautiful within herself. On the outside, she rolls her abs, runs her fingers through her hair, feels her muscles, all while standing strongly on her toes in between. Feeling somewhat depleted and weary, her struggle to stay alive has been a vigorous one. However, it has built her mind so strongly that the same power that lies within has transferred to her body, creating Layla to be the powerful woman she is. Aware that loving oneself is not a result of being vain or selfish Layla is indestructible. She begins to give the end of rehearsal one last “push” as she dives into movement, erotically throwing her body, in ways only her passion can feel and understand. Making her way to the floor, she takes one final look in the mirror. Physical defeat will not destroy her.
