She needs to use the half hoe instead of a regular cast shoe so that her heavily plastered big toe is unobstructed. Also to protect her bad toe and other vulnerable naked toes, she walks with her bad foot to the side and pushes off on it that way so as not to put pressure on her aching toes. As she gimps painfully in public, dealing with stairs, hopping to get her fallen crutches, and tying her half shoe, she must stop often to rest and prop up her bad foot in various positions to get more comfortable before she continues her gimp.
