Returning from a month-long business trip, a person would just like to find a clean and tidy house and a loving girlfriend, perhaps while making delicious meals with her own hands.

The reality is quite different: you find your girlfriend laying on the bed while eating cookies and watching a comedy show from her pc. She does not immediately notice your presence and continues to ruminate and laugh loudly. When she finally notices you, she quickly closes the package of cookies (which she will continue to stick her hands in while talking to you) and tries to pull herself together.
