4K I am a little bit of a social media lurker. I really like to lurk on a subreddit just for women to share and discuss pornography together, no men are allowed to post or comment. A common topic on the thread is the “female gaze” in pornography. The “female gaze” conceptually derives from the notion of the “male gaze” as explored in Laura Mulvey’s article, “Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema.” It addresses the concept of “scopophilia,” which in Mulvey’s article is the pleasure in gazing at women as objects to be viewed yet unable to return a gaze.
