Keri is a cleaner in the employ of Cadence, a wealthy young woman who is both arrogant and condescending. When she arrives home, she expresses surprise at actually finding Keri washing the floor, saying that she doesn't usually do the work she supposed to. When Keri tries to protest, Cadence informs her that she has found another cleaning lady who will work for less pay and whose reputation for getting the job done precedes her.
