Lydia is in the running to get the job of replacing her bank's existing manager, now on the point of retirement. Lydia badly wants him to recommend her over the other candidates, but he is reluctant to do so. When she reveals how desperate she is for the job and says she will do anything for his recommendation, she quickly regrets her rash statement.
