The isolation of winter creates a controlled space, free from distractions, where every task becomes an invitation to submit. There is much to be done in a winter residence, especially after it has been closed up for several months. The very air feels different here—crisp, heavy with the weight of snow and ice. Even the house seems to breathe differently in the cold, its ancient timbers groaning as the chill settles in.

I train my slaves by tasking them with ensuring that the residence is fully prepared for the long winter ahead. The fireplaces must be cleaned and stocked, the linens aired and carefully arranged, and every corner of the house must be spotless. There is no room for disorder in my domain, and the scent of dust or neglect has no place here.
