I got hired for a small freelance job in Canada, but I got detained at the border because I didn't get a work permit. I have a passport but saying I was coming in as a visitor didn't fly with Customs and Border Patrol. They pressed me to answer some questions, and when I answered honestly, they decided to detain me.
