Chi lo dice che l'amaro sapore del dolore e la stretta morsa della sofferenza terminano esattamente quando la frusta cessa di squarciare la pelle? Quello è solo il preludio di un dolore ancora più grande che può continuare senza limite lasciando la carne intrisa di agonia. E' ovvio che per arrivare ad un risultato simile occorre mettere la massima potenza ad ogni colpo di frusta e lasciare che lentamente la punta scavi, colpo dopo colpo, dei piccoli solchi che diventano via via sempre più profondi e quando finalmente la pelle è stata sufficientemente aperta inizia una sensazione di atroce bruciore che continua a logorare e a dare agonia. Tutto questo si amplifica maggiormente quando l'an-imale che ha subìto la punizione viene appeso per più ore incapace di poter lenire le ferite. Quando uno schiavo si macchia di una colpa tanto grave quanto il suo, di voler apparire diverso da quello che si è realmente, è necessaria non una semplice punizione fine a stessa ma l'amplificazione della punizione stessa tanto da trasformare il dolore in un tormento che trascende il tempo.
