I've been lucky that I've always have had long fingernails. But I have a terrible habit. As soon as they get too long, I have to bite my nails off. Using my phone camera, I bite my nails down to the nub. It doesn't take long before the nail clippings start piling up in the sink. From time to time, I stick my tongue out so you can see the clippings clinging to it. I just can't keep my nails out of my mouth!
