A firm, stable chair is a versatile assistant for your yoga practice. In this video, we explore the alignment of forward bending. Forward bends reveal and begin to alleviate tension in the back of the body. They also ask for a deep integration of the pelvis with the torso in order to free the hip joints, which is where the action of forward bending should be focused. Working with a chair provides points of support for the upper body so that a freer exploration of the hip joints and the lengthening of the spine can begin.
