I watch other park visitors enjoy the day, oblivious to my suffering. A woman picks a flower and hands it to his step-mother, triggering a flurry of sneezes in me. I blow my nose loudly, attracting looks of pity and disgust.
I try to focus on the beauty of the landscape, but it's difficult. Every bud that blooms, every blade of grass that sways in the wind, seems to want to have me. My eyes water and my breathing becomes labored. I feel like I'm trapped in a gas chamber of pollen and floral scents.
I decide to seek refuge in a more secluded corner of the park, away from the flower beds.
I observe the other visitors with a mixture of envy and resignation. I wish I could enjoy the day like them, without having to worry about sneezing, itching and a runny nose. But I know this is my reality, at least for the next few months.
I get up from the bench, determined not to let the allergy completely ruin my day. I clench my fists, blow my nose one last time and head towards the park exit. I can't wait to get home, where I can finally breathe clean air and find some relief from my symptoms.

Il sole splende, gli uccellini cinguettano e io starnutisco. Un altro starnuto, seguito da un altro ancora. I miei occhi iniziano a prudere e il naso cola come un rubinetto aperto. Benvenuti nella mia primavera, la stagione in cui i giardini pubblici si trasformano in campi di battaglia per me.
Osservo gli altri visitatori del parco godersi la giornata, ignari della mia sofferenza. Un bambino raccoglie un fiore e lo porge alla madre, scatenando in me una raffica di starnuti. Mi soffio il naso rumorosamente, attirando sguardi di commiserazione e disgusto.
Cerco di concentrarmi sulla bellezza del paesaggio, ma è difficile. Ogni bocciolo che sboccia, ogni filo d'erba che ondeggia al vento, sembra volermi torturare. I miei occhi lacrimano e il respiro diventa affannoso. Mi sento come se fossi intrappolata in una camera di tortura fatta di polline e profumi floreali.
Decido di cercare rifugio in un angolo più appartato del parco, lontano dalle aiuole fiorite.
Osservo gli altri visitatori con un misto di invidia e rassegnazione. Vorrei potermi godere la giornata come loro, senza dovermi preoccupare di starnuti, prurito e naso che cola. Ma so che questa è la mia realtà, almeno per i prossimi mesi.
Mi alzo dalla panchina, decisa a non farmi rovinare completamente la giornata dall'allergia. Stringo i pugni, mi soffio il naso un'ultima volta e mi avvio verso l'uscita del parco. Non vedo l'ora di tornare a casa, dove potrò finalmente respirare aria pulita e trovare un po' di sollievo dai miei sintomi.
