Non importa quanto mi sforzi di mangiare sano, di evitare cibi che fermentano, di fare esercizio fisico regolarmente, i gas mi colgono sempre nei momenti peggiori. Durante una riunione importante, un appuntamento galante, una serata tra amici... un brontolio improvviso, un gorgoglio incontrollabile, un odore sgradevole che mi fa sprofondare dalla vergogna.
Cerco di mascherare il disagio con un colpo di tosse, una risata nervosa, una scusa per allontanarmi un attimo. Ma la paura di essere scoperta, di essere giudicata, di diventare oggetto di scherno mi logora dentro.
Ho provato ogni tipo di rimedio, dai farmaci alle tisane, dai probiotici allo yoga. Ho consultato specialisti, ho seguito diete restrittive, ho persino provato l'agopuntura. Niente sembra funzionare. A volte mi chiedo se questa condizione sia una punizione per la mia vanità, per l'importanza che do all'aspetto esteriore. Forse dovrei imparare ad accettarmi per quello che sono, imperfezioni incluse. Ma è difficile quando la società ti impone un modello di perfezione irraggiungibile.
Nonostante tutto, cerco di non farmi abbattere.
