Returning home late, supposedly from her weekly riding lesson, Cece is confronted by by her step-father, seriously angry having earlier received a phone call, from Cece's riding instructor, wondering where she is! It very quickly emerges that Cece, under the influence of the "cool crowd" at school whom she thinks are her friends, has not been going riding for some weeks but hanging out at the mall instead.
