Claire is in her hospital room recovering following a car accident and expects to be discharged soon. Newly minted Doctor Greta comes to give her vitamins but makes a mistake and Claire's heart suddenly goes into vFib. She starts gasping for air and then suddenly flatlines. The doctor is fearful and doesn't recognize right away what is wrong. She preps the defibrillator, places gel on the paddles performs a round on Claire's heart. Her pulse returns to normal, and she doesnt recognize what just happened to her. Doctor Greta's got a heart condition herself (the reason she went into medicine) and the experience she has just gone through stresses her out so much that her heart suddenly stops and she goes into full. Claire tries to call someone, her but her voice is not strong enough. A nurse steps into her room. Seeing the doctor in her state, they sound the alarm and she is placed into a wheelchair as she is rushed by the trauma team into an empty ER. Once there she is layed on the bed and her clothes, nylons and bra are cut off. Time is of the essence. They start CPR immediately, ambu bagging her. The defibrillator charges but there is no response following the first shock. They continue the resus procedure. Following some cycles of the CPR and defibs, her pulse returns to normal and she opens her eyes. She starts breathing alone and everything looks ok. She asks what happened and as the nurse begins to tell her about the medical mistake she made with Claire, hospital liability etc., she starts gasping for air again as she sees her career going down the toilet. Her heart goes into full CA all over again! Better a patient then a malpractitioner they say. The medical team doesn't know what is going on but they continue the resuscitation procedures with CPR, ambu bagging and more defibrilations, but with no response. They prep her for intubation. They fill her lungs with air from the ambu bag and start intubation. They also continue performing rounds of CPR. They try everything to on their colleague (who may be looking for a new job soon). Finally, her pulse returns to normal. They don't extubate her but rather help her to relax hooked up to a respirator. For the time being she will stay in ICU for more exams and monitoring.
