First nurse Jessica checks her BP and than they place the ECG electrodes onto her chest. Kate sits up on the bike and starts cycling. Nurse Jessica checks her BP and listens to her heartbeat with a steth while she does it. Jessica jokes that the test is so easy a 50 year old man was just in for it, but the humor quickly fades... Unexpectedly, Kate gets totally out of breath rather quickly... far too quickly for her age. Jessica doesnt understand this as her BP is OK. Soon afterwards Kate becomes an O2 mask is placed onto her face and she is instructed to continue the exam, but she cant. She is tired and totally out of breath. She even needs assistance to lis on the exam table still with many electrodes attached. She gasps for air as her condition deteriorates rapidly. Nurse Jessica has no choice but to call for help. When Dr. Nicky and Nurse Betsy arrive Kates eyes are rolling in her head and the next minute she stops breathing and she goes into full cardiac arrest! The medical team removes her bra immediately and starts CPR with strong chest compressions. The defibrillator charges and they shock her heart. Kates body contorts sharply, however there is still no pulse. The med team continues CPR and ambu bagging. They shock her again but with no response. The medical team needs more cycles of CPR - ambu begging and defibrillations to stabilize her. Finally the patients pulse returns and she looks OK. Unfortunately, with thes complication she won't be diving any time soon!
