The other nurses realize she seems much more stressed and exhausted than usual. Nicky gasps for air but says she is OK. Following the final round of defib patient Laura's pulse returns but Nicky is too tired to stay in the room. The doctor helps her out and implores Nicky to have an exam, an EKG. Nurse Nicky refuses saying she is ok. However, back in the nurse's rest room Nicky feels really bad. She gasps for air, her arms are numb, her neck and chin hurt. She almost cannot hold her phone. Finally she calls a colleague for help. Two nurses run into restroom, but they finds nurse Nicky already crashed. They put her on the floor, cut off her shirt and bra and start CPR immediately while they charge the defibrillator. One nurse calls for more help and for a gurney. They must transport Nicky to an ER stat! In the corridor on the way to the ER Betsy is sitting on the gurney, performing CPR on Nicky. Once in the ER they continue the resus procedure. The BP is on, and she is hooked up to a heart monitor, but there is no signal. The two nurses take turns at CPR with help from the doctor who implored Nicky to get an exam. Following some rounds her Nicky's pulse returns but her breathing is terrible. She is gasping for air heavily and an O2 mask is put on. The team puts a 12 lead EKG onto her chest and realizes she has had a massive CA event. A few minutes later she crashed again and her heart goes into Vfib. Resus continues and they must intubate her as well. One nurse continues CPR with dramatic, heavy and deep chest compressions. More and more rounds are required with little result. They are close to giving it up but thanks to their sheer tenacity finally her pulse returns to normal As she wakes up a bit disoriented she suddenly rips off her own ET tube and starts breathing heavily again. The med team must transport her for more therapy. A superb and very realistic clip featuring head nurse Nicky!
