You can add toe spreading if you like as I enjoy that, too. You can also take small breaks in between the curls to rub your feet on each other, or to put one foot on top of the other. All I ask is that you maintain the default position that your feet are in when you curl them; in other words, don't improvise by sudden position changes, and also by "moving them all over the place"
