Veruca Vennan is a top spy and only the head of her agency knows that she is on the also the superheroine known as Night Wasp a member of the elite team called Night Shift. One of the teams members Night Raven has disappeared and Veruca won't rest until she finds out what happened to her. Unfortunately somehow a seemingly common thug gets the drop on her first as she searches a secret medical lab that Night Raven had been assigned to investigate. Veruca is left tightly bound but escapes and then when she looks into a club that HQ tells her was the last location Night Raven was supposed to investigate. Again, somehow the thug takes her down and leaves her tied up.

Now, Veruca, as her alter ego Night Wasp has tracked the thug to an abandoned building. The thug almost takes her down with a rag, but Night Wasp is ready and gets the advantage. She uses her stinger to paralyze the thug but is caught totally off guard when he shakes off the effects and delivers a savage low blow. In the ensuing fight Night Wasp finds out the thug has been using the stolen experimental pharmaceuticals and is much more than he seems.

Night Wasp is bound in the thugs lair. He has one of his low-life friends with a cam-corder. He wakes NW up and explains that he can't her, that would make every superheroine in the city come after him, so he is going to get leverage on her....

NW seems to be in sheer agony as she is unmasked, both of her identities would be destroyed if the recording is put onto the internet. She gains some defiance as if she plans some type of vengence, but after how broken she was when her identity was recorded it is just a desperate facade
