Elizabeth is wearing new, brightly coloured sandals, the heels of which constantly get stuck in the sand, catch on the roots of plants and she constantly loses them, and then puts them on again and continues on her way. But when she starts to climb up the dunes, she constantly rolls down them, losing her sandals. Eventually it becomes impossible to walk, she gets tired of it and throws away her sandals, first one, then the other.
