She opens the door to the backseat of the car so her step-son can climb in. He gets situated in the back as Jane gets behind the wheel. He can only see her through the gap between the seats because he's kinda hiding from his friends nearby who laugh when his step-mom's car won't start. It's okay because he can still see plenty of action because Jane's body bounces with each pump of the gas and her red toes stand out against the dark floor. Jane sweetly talks to the car to keep her step-son calm but also in hopes the Car Gods will have mercy today.
