It was completely inappropriate and out of line -- the new guy had already taken responsibility, apologized, and was doing everything he could to fix the order. And the customer wasn't even upset!

Clearly, power has gone to Rachel's head, and she needs to be put in her place. In contrast to her highly unprofessional behavior in front of everyone, she is later taken aside and informed that she is going to be disciplined in private. It just so happens that the diner's owner also owns the nearby hotel, and so Rachel is brought to an unoccupied room and given a stern lecture while she's held OTK with her pants pulled down. Her punishment quickly ensues, and the girl used to being in charge is quickly reduced to a helpless who is crying without regard for her dignity long before she is done being spanked.

Of course, afterwards she is comforted and reassured. It is important that a girl be allowed to come down gently after being firmly put in her place.
