Ember comes home to report that she got straight "A's" on her report card. Her step-mother is so excited that she goes to the other side of the house to get Ember some cookies to celebrate. While Rachel is in the kitchen an intruder grabs Ember from behind and subdues her. He hog ties her and leaves her on the floor, returning to his hiding place. Moments later Rachel comes back into the room to find Ember bound and gagged on the floor. She drops the cookies and kneels at her step-daughter's side trying to free her from the ropes.
