She looks at them and sighs at how red they have been made from being at work. After she has caressed the bunions for a while, she puts her high-heels back on. They feel tight and uncomfortable around her swollen, hurting feet. She practices standing in them - trying find a position that doesn't put so much pressure on them. Meanwhile, she grows impatient from waiting for her phone-call. It only comes after she has spent a considerable time paying further attention to her feet and her high-heels. Very annoyed, she criticizes her colleague for being late in getting back to her. She also tells her of the grief she has had because of her feet. As a result of being kept waiting, she tells her colleague that she will not be wearing shoes to the meeting. She will attend in barefoot in stockings. The colleague is worried about what impression this will make on the company president. But Rachel doesn't care about that. She had been messed around enough for the day. She then deliberately hangs around at home for a while longer, further rubbing and messaging her feet. She feels it is only right that others do the waiting for a change. Then, when she is ready, she grabs her hand-bag and heads out of the house without wearing any shoes. She has been true to her word.
