This is all getting too strange, you think. Maybe she is not quite the catch you thought she was? Her face seems to wince in pain and her legs are spasming. You try to help but she pushes you away.

Just as you are ready to turn and leave you hear something flop down near her feet. What looks like a flipper is now exposed from underneath the tablecloth. Her face turns bright red and she states "I was going to tell you," and removes her cover completely.

You realize what the secret is, you are dating a mermaid.

Now, you can't walk away. You are mesmerized by her eyes and fin and have so many questions. She sits and wets her scales with some water as you get used to her new form.
